6 Apps for RV Living

Smartphones might be the best thing to happen to RVers since the portable television. Besides making calls, you have access to a world of information that can make RV living easier and more fun.

At Wilder Resorts, we talk to lots of folks who use apps to find things on the road, keep track of the things they need, and even just find a place to dump their sanitation tank.

Here’s our list of the best apps for your travels:

Picture
  1. Google Maps - This is the most complete map service online. Because Google is constantly taking images of different roads around the world, you can see the actual place you’re headed to. There is also the advantage that the maps have all of the local businesses, with reviews and more. You can even use it to get to Wilder’s Ft. Myers RV resort. You can program our address in from anywhere and it will give you turn by turn directions to our front gate. Best of all, it’s free. You can get it for Android and iPhone.
  2. Sanidumps - After a few days on the road, you can find yourself with a tank full of waste that needs to be dumped. Until recently, you had to find an RV resort or hope that you could find a dump site. Sanidumps makes is much easier. With Sanidumps, you can simply let the app find you and it will show you where there are dumps nearby. The app is available on Google Play and the Appstore.
  3. GasBuddy - The biggest expense of RVing is the fuel and finding gas that’s even 5¢ lower can save a lot of money in the long run. In a 55-gallon tank, you can save enough to buy a couple cups of coffee. GasBuddy looks at your location and helps you find the least expensive gas in the area. GasBuddy is free to use and can save you as much as $100 by the time your trip is over. GasBuddy is available from Google Play and the Appstore.
  4. Oh, Ranger! - This is an amazing country. Oh, Ranger! helps you find parks near you, national, state, and local parks for you and your family to explore. Many of the people who visit our RV resorts in Texas use it to find some of the literally hundreds of amazing national parks. No matter where you are in the US, you’ll be able to find some outstanding places to stretch your legs and see some of the most beautiful places in the world. Oh, Ranger! is also in the Appstore and Google Play.
  5. Yelp - This is an app that’s popular with everyone, even people who don’t travel. Yelp is a review app that works for everything from restaurants and hotels to massage therapists and movie theatres. All you have to do is let Yelp find you and you can not only see what’s nearby, but how other people rate it. Looking for the best local restaurant, Yelp can help. If you’re looking for a theatre with great seats, Yelp can help. You can contribute to Yelp and grow the information for everyone. Yelp is in the Appstore and Google Play and it’s free to use.
  6. Keyring - Traveling the country is a great way to gather loyalty points. As you go from RV resort to RV resort, you’ll stop at grocery stores, gas station chains, and much more, all of which have loyalty programs that earn you points and give you things. Keyring lets you store all of those cards in your phone instead of having to carry them around on your keys or in your wallet. It converts the numbers into at code that scanners can read. Easy, quick, and readily available, you can be earning points with having to have the card with you everywhere. Also in the Appstore and Google Play.

Modern technology is amazing. It gives you the power to know much more about where you are and what to do than we have ever had before. These six apps are outstanding and perfect for saving you time and money.
