Florida boasts many beautiful beaches, so for one to be known as a true stand-out – it must be good! Fort de Soto Park, in Tierra Verde, certainly is. In fact, it was voted the best family beach in the United States in 2014, and simply the best beach in the country in 2009.
One of the reasons that Fort de Soto Park is so popular is that it is much more than “just” a beach, with over 1,100 acres and many other activities to enjoy. Once you’ve had your fill of lazing on the powder white sand or swimming in the azure waters, there’s so much else to do – from kayaking to mountain biking. Among Florida’s many well-known and loved attractions, there are also some more unique gems. Apollo Beach’s quirky Manatee Viewing Center is one such place – it's been a favorite local secret for years, but is often overlooked by those just passing through.
The visitors who do make a stop at the attraction are well rewarded, with the chance to observe dozens of playful manatees and perhaps even pet a stingray! Wilder’s been a large part of the Florida RVer community for decades, so you know a Wilder recommendation is informed and doesn’t come lightly. When visiting Florida, there are some smaller destinations that can be difficult to find, but the memories are oh so worth it. Sure, Disney is an experience that most wouldn’t consider passing up, but what about the Sunken Gardens in St Petersburg or Duke Energy’s Manatee Viewing Center & Preserve? We’re huge fans of these kinds of destinations at Wilder, and we know which ones are worth the trip. Read on for some captivating Wilder-recommended destinations, and to learn how Wilder is growing with the community! |
