There are lots of beautiful places in the United States, but south Texas is easily among the most amazing. Wilder RV Resorts has several locations in the Rio Grande Valley, sitting in the heart of some of the country’s most pristine lands. Here is our list of places to go while you’re visiting the Rio Grande Valley:
Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge - There are few places in the world that have as diverse and fascinating of a bird population. The Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge is home and a stopover for hundreds of thousands of birds from all over North America. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that runs the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge has a special program to let every 4th grader (and their families) into every park for free, including this south Texas gem. National Butterfly Center - This 100-acre center is not a government agency, but a private non-profit dedicated to giving butterflies a place to live and grow. It’s not a butterfly house, but a full park with outdoor trails you can walk and spot these amazing insects. It’s perfect for taking the kids out to see nature or just for a walk with a loved one in a quiet, beautiful place. Trapped RGV - Escape rooms are all the rage and Trapped RGV is one of the best. Right in McAllen, you have 60 minutes to escape from a room using hidden codes, strange items, and clues. Different rooms have different stories behind them, including a Cold War room and virus outbreak room. This is a place to live through the stories you see in video games and movies, including being kidnapped or wrongfully accused of a crime. The International Museum of Art and Science – IMAS is a museum with a little bit of everything for everyone. They have both permanent and traveling exhibits of art and science. There’s over 50,000 square feet of space that offers a traditional art museum experience, and hands-on science experiments. There are over 2,000 natural history and geology specimens, 4,500 folk art objects, and 1,500 fine artwork from the US, Mexico, and beyond. A short drive away are two of the most wondrous places in the US: Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and South Padre Island. Laguna Atascosa is a 97,000 acre preserve where nature reigns supreme and the plants and animals are unique. South Padre Island, famous for its spring break crowd, is a charming island community that reaches out into the Gulf of Mexico. Both are worth the drive. South Texas is an amazing place where the cultures of the United States and Mexico live side-by-side creating a unique world that’s only found here. There is sunshine and fun to be had around every corner. When you come to the Rio Grande Valley, stay at Alamo Rose RV Resort or one of our other RV parks. Each one offers different amenities, but most have Wi-Fi hotspots, swimming pools, shuffleboard, recreation halls, and lots of other activities. They are all great places to call home while you explore one of the US’s most amazing places, Rio Grande Valley and south Texas.
